Psion, in its heyday, was one of the best known consumer electronics brand in the UK. Owning one of their hand-held devices (Organiser or Portable Computer) had the same cachet as owning today’s most up to date Smart Phone.
I had the privilege of designing one of the many electronic accessories made by Psion Dacom, while freelancing at a London Design Studio. This small adapter allowed the hand-held Psion Computer to be connected to the internet. Everything was cabled in those far off days – no WiFi.
I designed this clam shell injection moulded casework. It was one of the first products I designed using SolidWorks 3D solid modelling software that I had just bought. I saw 3D modelling as the only way forward in 1997, and I have been proved right. I could not have made a living as a designer without SolidWorks.
